Removal Proceedings
Removal proceedings are initiated by the issuance of a Notice to Appear (NTA) by the Department of Homeland Security (DHS). Possible defenses available during removal proceedings include Cancellation of Removal, A Violence, and Withholding of Removal. Protection under the Convention Against Torture (CAT), applying for lawful permanent residency through a family member, an employer, as a victim of a crime (U visa), or the Violence Against Women Act (VAWA).
